Sinian Aby & Somali

Once upon a time, that is how fairy tales usually begin, isn't it? Well, there is no real fairy tale in my case, just a lot of consistent and stubborn aiming at breeding good Somalis. I started out with Abys, but at that time (1980) the PRA was discovered so I could not find breeding stock, instead I turned to Somalis wich then were brand new. Due to our rabiesregulations they were also hard to get and sometimes made me wonder why am I doing this?

My first girl came from Norway and was a Sanddropcat, by the name of Lucy. She was a sorrel. The next one came from Great Britain, Mycene Tia Maria, also sorrel. Both lived until the age of 17 years.

At the moment I have 10 cats living with me, the oldest will be 16 on the ninth of september 09, the youngest are 7 days old. Four of them are speutered. We live in a 2 bedroom-house, the cats have two runs to spend their time in and I have the rest of the very small garden for my own pleasure. I like gardening, always coming home with new plants so there isn't much room left now, though the winters here do make some holes now and then.

Litters have sometimes been far between , only 29 in 26 years time. Maybe two litters one year and none the next.

Having been retired for a few years means that most of my time is spent with the cats. They live very much underfoot and as such are being spoilt. Four of them sleep in my bed, most of them do not miss my meals and the titbits and they all believe, in true Somali-spirit, that they can conquer the world!!
